Getting Things Completed

Do you have issues getting things finished? If you are anything like me you can have some brilliant ideas but they come to naught due to the fact that they never get finished. Back when I was using, I was a great schemer. In fact both my room-mate and I were one in mind when it came to schemes. We would come up with some fantastic idea - one that would usually lead us to lots of cash, would be legal for the most part and would require little work on our parts.

We would draw up intricate plans in a drug haze and talk about how great it would be when this scheme was up and running. The truth was, of course, that the schemes never got up and running. They would get started with gusto only to fizzle out a short time later. There would be no mourning of the unfinished plan because the next scheme was being formulated and it would be soooo much better than the last. Can anyone relate?

When we leave our life of using, often the schemes come with us. This is not good. The Bible is filled with people of God completing things from Noah to Paul. Even Jesus himself cried "It is finished" on Calvary.

How many of us can make the same claim of the things in our lives? How many unfinished projects lie scattered at your feet? As Christians in recovery we need to be an example to others. We need to finish what we start as it is crucial to our recovery.

Continuing to remain disorganized only makes recovery harder. We will get easily overwhelmed by the trials of life, the very same trials we drank and smoked over.

To help you keep organized, we have added a To Do module to the site. It is a very simple one where you can keep track of the things you have going on. It is of course web-based so you can access it from any computer and you can print it in order to have a hard copy. It is still in a pretty basic form but I will be looking to improve it as time goes on.

We have also added an ideas / suggestion link on the menu bar if there is anything you feel we can add to the site. I am currently using the To Do module myself and it definately helps me keep on top of things and finally get them finished!

Using the Chatbox

The Chatbox is a box in which you can... well... you know... chat. Whatever you type in there can be seen by all site users both members and visitors. You can use it to add a word of encouragement to someone, share with us something you are grateful for or maybe things to pray for you about... whatever you like.

It is faster than email but very public so don't include any information you wouldn't want everyone to read.

Whats The Deal With The Comics?

The comics section of the site is there to add a little joy to our lives. The choice was put together by me but I will take special requests to add or delete comics if you note your requests in the comments section below.
The comics are automatically updated every day so there should be a new one there frequently. Occasionly you may find that clicking on a comic will give you an error message. This is normal and is usually due to the traffic limitations of the servers that host the comics themselves.

So... take a break and check out the comics. Enjoy!

How To Post Comments On Articles

Feel bad because in the past you really did not have your say? Well now you can! One of the great features of the new Chemical Recovery ministry website is the ability for members to add comments to most of the articles displayed.
Fancy yourself as a film or book critic? Well go ahead and write your own review of any of the books or movies we have already reviewed.

Have any of the stories helped you in any way? Write a comment about it! At the bottom of each article, there is a link marked Comment. This allows you to add your say to the article. The only requirement is that you are a member of the site. So, go ahead, add a comment and let your voice be heard!

How Do I Change Or Update My CR Group Information

In the past, updating your CR group information was manual. You would send an email to the webmaster detailling the group and he would make the changes. As you can imagine this was an ardous process fraught with error.
With this new site, all your information is entered via your profile. Your profile settings page can be accessed by clicking on the settings link on the left side of the screen. However to do this, you must be a member of the site and you must be logged in.
