When a person attends a Chemical Recovery group, it is best that they do so with their discipling partner or prayer partner or, at least someone from their discipling group. This is done on account of the person bringing them, knows them and can help in the best possible way. Bringing someone through group should be condsidered an honor as it allows us to participate at a time in a persons life when they can see God moving and changing them in a powerful way. It is not, of course, the only time, but often it marks a significant turning point in their walk with Jesus.
A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23 is by no means a new book, but it is being recommended for CR reading due to it's relevance to both the recovering addict and whoever is taking them through the group. Written by Phillip Keller, once a real shepherd in Africa, it is a moving and inspiring look at Psalm 23. His writing allows the reader to see this beautiful Psalm in a new light while challenging those whose hearts are truly set to imitate Jesus, to re-evaluate their lives and their qualities as a shepherd.
If you only read two books this year. Make one of them, the Bible and A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23 the other!
