CR Ministry NewsIt's been a little over a week since the convening of the '09 CR workshop in Mount Vernon, NY. Attendees traveled from as far west as San Diego, CA and as far south as Palm Beach, FL. Among their diverse ranks were recovering crack addicts and heroin users, alcoholics as well as ministry leaders, and while their stories may have been different they came to the workshop with the common purpose of wanting to give back. While for some it may have been their first formal introduction to the eight Traditions, any unfamiliarity quickly disappeared as they soon recognized in the Traditions the same trusted reasoning that has made CR the success story it is today. Along with classes covering the Traditions, participants were able to sit in on an actual group which gave them a first hand view of how this kind of CR group fits together. Complimentary refreshments were served all day thanks to the generous support of the NYC Church of Christ which sponsored the entire event. On every level the commitment to CR's well being was apparent throughout the day. The success of this years workshop continues to prove that many people are still eager to grow in their own recovery. This, of course, is the key to helping others do the same. To See Photos from the Workshop - Click Here. For CR Rules and Traditions Posters - Click Here

Brothers & Sisters! I am so very excited to FINALLY share that through many years of prayer - my husband and I are leading CR together!! Ever since I graduated from CR 7 years ago and started Co-leading I have had the dream of leading CR with my husband. I have had to learn to not "push" him and surrender that if it was Gods will - then God would move his heart. I remember a day that I finally prayed - "God, if it is not my husband that you would have lead the Men's CR Group, then please raise someone up who will have a heart for the ministry and for the men". It was then that I beleive God started to move in my husbands heart. He has for the past 3 years attended the CR Leaders Retreat with me as a support. It was last year at the retreat 2007 in So Cal. that he felt called by God to lead!! He knew I would jump up and down and do cartwheels - so he told me what he was feeling in the "food line" That God was calling him to lead and felt as though ever lesson and class that weekend was directed at him.

Our dear Sister and fellow soldier in the faith, Carmen Correa from the Bronx ministry, departed us for heaven on Sunday, May 20th. While her destination does give us comfort it has not left all those who knew her and loved her so much without a deep pain at this parting.
She was a teacher, a friend, a voice of reason, and (no doubt) at times the un-ignorable mouth piece of God. She was always real, bold, faithful, and while she was a formidable soldier against Satan, a true force to be reckoned with – she was also soft-hearted and vulnerable.
